A Lifetime of Dedication to the American Pit Bull Terrier
Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my mother raised and exhibited Golden Retrievers in obedience, field trials, and conformation. Through her involvement, I developed an appreciation for countless breeds and the world of competitive dog showing. Although I once dreamed of competing in Grand Prix show jumping with horses, my path ultimately led me back to dogs.
At 19, I was introduced to the American Pit Bull Terriers of Buckey Glenn and Katherine Wise's Hickory Hill Kennels. Their dogs left a lasting impression on me and began a lifelong passion for the breed. My first APBT, a beautiful white female named Tasha, earned a first-place ribbon at a show in New Smyrna, Tennessee, rekindling my love for the show ring.
By 1994, I had acquired two well-bred APBTs from Glenn and Katherine and began traveling to ADBA shows throughout the South and Midwest with my stepfather, Jack, and close friends Felicia Cobb and Linda Arriaga. My first breeding produced my first Champion, Storm Warning, a black brindle female who later produced nine puppies, five of which earned Champion titles.
Together, we helped establish the Western Carolina ADBA Club and later revived the Appalachian AADR Club. In late 2014, we were approached about taking over the All American Dog Registry. We agreed to rebuild the organization around the camaraderie, sportsmanship, and sense of community that made our early experiences so special. With the addition of "International" to its name, AADRI began a new chapter.
“If we do this, we do it in the same spirit of camaraderie that I remember when I first started attending American Pit Bull Terrier shows.”
After 35 years of involvement with the American Pit Bull Terrier, I remain dedicated to preserving the bloodlines introduced to me by my mentors. Through AADRI, my mission is to provide a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment where enthusiasts can celebrate their dogs, compete in sporting events, and build lasting friendships. We proudly welcome owners of other breeds to participate in our sporting activities as well.
Above all, I believe we have a responsibility to preserve, protect, and promote the American Pit Bull Terrier for future generations while carrying forward the traditions and friendships that make this community so special.
